1785
+A small congregation of Methodists begins to worship together near Pineville, in southern Mecklenburg County.  The church becomes Harrison's Methodist Church, and the first structure is erected between 1805 and 1815.
+RR. January 17.  Archibald McCurdy enters 20 A in Mecklenburg Co; border: land he bought from James Love on W side of Rocky River.  Also, Archibald McCurdy enters 100 A in Mecklenburg Co; border includes S & E sides of plantation he bought of James Love.  [G1]
+RR. March 22.  James Love & wf Elizabeth to Archibald McCurdy, blacksmith, for £120 current NC money, 180 A on the west side of Rocky R adj William McAnully, and Waddington.  Said land was granted to Love in 1782 by an act of the NC Assembly.  Wit:  William McAnully, John, and Archibald White.  Proved in Dec 1785 Court.  Sam Martin, CMC.  [D2]

+Gilead Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church is established in what is now western Mecklenburg Co, on Beatties Ford Road.

+Prosperity Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church is established near what is now the town of Huntersville in north Mecklenburg County.
+PC. July 25.  William Davis and wf Anne and George Davis and wf Isabella to Thomas Nation, for £100 current NC money, 150 A on the head of Paw Cr adj John Davies and Joseph Man.  Sd land was deeded (in two parcels?) 9 November 1764 and 26 July 1766 by John McKnitt Alexander to John McKee, and from McKee to David Davis 4 February 1769, and by sd Davis' will of 15 November 1776 to William and George Davis.  Wit: Samuel and Moses Neely.  Proved in April 1789 Court by oath of Samuel Neely.  Jno. October 24.  John Love & wf Elizabeth, free holders, to John White of Poplar Ridge, for £300 current NC money, 330 A on Coldwater and Buffalo Creeks of Rocky R in two adj tracts viz: 295 A adj David Purvines, James Cambel, John McCallum; and 35 A adj John Rodgers on which Love lived.  Both tracts were state grants to Love in 1783 and 1787.  Wit: James Ross, Archibald White Sr. and Jr.  Proved in July 1792 Court.  Deed Book 14, p. 88.  [D2]
+SC. December 22.  Deed from James Biggers of Craven Co., SC to Thos. Rainey, for £100 lawful NC money, 406 A on the east side of the Catawba R opposite the mouth of Crowders Cr and adj the east line of John Biggers.  Sd land was patented to Matthew Biggers 6 Apr 1765, then conveyed to Joseph McCinly, and to Chas. and Sam Calhoun.  Wit:  Jos. Swann and Robert McCormick.  Proved in Jan 1791 Court by oath of Joseph Swann.  Isaac Alexander, CMC.  Deed Book 13, p. 851.  [D2]  [The description of this land indicates that it was in southwestern Mecklenburg County, in Lower Steele Creek and west of Pineville.]
