+Providence Presbyterian Church is formed in what is now southeastern Mecklenburg County.

1768
+Tryon County is formed from western Mecklenburg County.  Mecklenburg is now reduced to an area that includes what will become Cabarrus and Union Counties.
+Rowan County.  An area which is now in southern Guilford County and northern Randolph County, NC.  The area is described as Polecat, Deep R(iver), and Carraway.  Included in the tax list of Wm. Millikan, Justice for this area, are John Love (1), John Nation (1), Joseph Nation (1), Christopher Nation & sons Jno & Thomas (3).  Also included are possible connections Ezra Hunt (1), John Thompson (1).  Rowan Co., NC stack file CRX 244 at the N. +November 7.  Charlotte Town is incorporated

1770
+Philadelphia Presbyterian Church is formed in what is now eastern Mecklenburg County.  Philadelphia is the seventh of the "Seven Sisters," the seven earliest churches of the area, which roughly form a ring around Charlotte Town and contribute to the growth of additional churches in Mecklenburg County.

1771
+May 16.  At Alamance, North Carolina, the Loyalist forces of Governor William Tryon of North Carolina crushed the Regulators, who represented the resistance movement of back country settlers.
+RR.  September 2.  Deed from James Caldwell & wf Elizabeth of NC, to James Love & John Meachim, for £30 proclamation money, 140 A on a branch of Rocky River.  Witnesses: James Harris, Robert Harris.  Deed Book 9, 42-45.  [D1]

1775
+Morning Star Lutheran Church is established near present-day Matthews, in what is now eastern Mecklenburg County. 

1775
+May 19.  A Mecklenburg Militia is formed, led by Col. Thomas Polk. At the meeting to organize the militia, news of the battle at Lexington and Concord in Massachusetts arrives.
May 20.  The Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence is written and signed.

1777
+RR. April.  MCCofCP&QS, 1-98.  Deed of sale from James Love & John McCackan of Mecklenburg, to John Davis of same, for £100 proclamation money, for 140 A on Back Creek of Rocky River, dated 28 November 1776.  Acknowledged.  Ordered to be registered.  [CM1], [D1]
+RR. May 25.  Deed from Hugh & Mary Currigan (Carrigan) to William & Sarah Love for 78 A on Crooked Creek.  Deed Book 9, p 233.  [GE]

1778
+RR. July 30.  William Love enters 40 A in Mecklenburg Co on waters of Crooked Cr; border includes his own land, Richd Stilwell.  [G1]
